Hey, I just got these fancy new shoes for ur Jamaica trip. I'm not allowed to wear them at school (something about open-toe-what are we... welding?), but if I could I would have them on all day!
The other day I had my violin recital at Good Shepperd. It went really well, even though I was quite nervous:
It's April and Anthony just got some bubbles! He was seen often going to the surface to gup air, so we figured his water needed some air. I don't know if this was the reason, but he seems to like the bubbles. He also appears to have stopped growing, which is fine because the last thing we want is a big fish in a little tank, not able to even turn around!

It's hard to believe it has been a year, but the ballet recital is upon us and so are the costume pictures. This is what we looked like this year:
We had pictures taken at school. This first day, many kids were sick, but I had the "solo" picture taken. Then, a few days later, we took the group one. That's why I'm wearing different clothes!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 - 5:30PM. Devon's first whole sentence: I have poopies!
Jordan had a "Dress-up" party at her house and invited a whole bunch of friends. I went with mom and dad stayed home with Devon. Lots of costumes to go around and great pretend play. For some reason I don't look too happy on a couple of pictures. Maybe I just hate being upstaged!!!

Today we went to the mall with Angelina. As you can see, we got our faces painted. Not Devon, she's still too scared of strangers to let them do that. She did get a hair cut, and that was rough enough! Dad forgot the camera in the car, so all we get are pictures from the ride back...
My friend Amelia came over for a sleepover the other day. I did one at her house a few months back and this was her turn. We are trying to do as much as we can before school starts again. This year we will be at different schools, and I'll miss seeing her during the day.

This is the last batch of ballet pictures, from my last class and the recital rehearsal (there was no photography or video allowed during the actual recital). I like the one with my friends Courtney, Isabella and Morgan. We look like a bunch of she-devils with out red outfits and red eyes...!!
Every once in a while a photographer comes to school to take pictures of us. If they come out OK mom & dad probably buy a few. This one is the latest one, a good one for the grandparents:
A couple of weeks ago we had some pictures taken of us in our ballet recital outfits. Jordan was with me when these were taken.
This week I get to pick the song. This * one is my favorite out of this CD (at least for today...).
Guess who's walking now! That crawling business wasn't for me... Too low and always looking down! This is something else! I've been practicing barefoot at home for the past few days and I think I have the hang of it. One thing I did, I learned how to fall forward, so I don't bang my head too much. I did like landing on my cushy diaper, though. Now it's time to do it with shoes on and in public. I hope all these people give me some space!

A little "me-time" with Grandma:
This is the ultimate South Florida thing, although they happen to have locations all over the country. My friend Courtney had her birthday party at a place called Sweet & Sassy, which is like a salon for little girls. They do your hair, makeup and even let you try some fancy dresses. Then, when you are ready, you get to show it all off on a catwalk, like a real fashion model. By now you can guess that no boys came to this party, which is too bad, because the missed on seeing us look this good! Check it out:
Hey, a few weeks ago I started Ballet and tap dancing classes! It's very different from gymnastics, because the parents don't get to watch and we work a lot harder. At least that's what I'm telling them... I like it because we get to dress up like pretty ballerinas, and I like the sound the tap shoes make when I walk on the tile floor around the house. I don't think Dad does, though. And this summer we have a recital where we get to show everybody how much we have learned. It's a big production (read expensive), we had to buy a especial dress and they even have make-up packages. Some of my friends from school are in this class too. And of course, Jordan. We have done so many things together... gymnastics, swimming, and now this. Normally, because parents don't get to see our classes, they have to find something to do during that hour. But the other day was the one day they let them in for a little while, and they took some pictures. It's a bit dark in the studio, so the pictures come a kind of funny, but you get the idea.

The
other day we had the dance rehersal for our recital. Like last year, we
get to do everything we will do on the actual day. I like it that we do
the hair and makeup. We just got back from Jamaica, so I still have my
braids on. I think they look good, no? By the time the recital happens
I'm sure my hair will be back to normal, but maybe I can get a week or
two out of them. I mostly spent time with Courtney, Isabella and
Morgan, who are doing this as well. After the rehersal, we all went to
Ruby Tuesdays for dinner. Our parents let us sit at our own table, as
if we were four friends on a "girl's night out". We had a blast!

For
the last year, Mom & Dad have been trying to get passport pictures
of me. I'm the only one in the family without a passport, and it looks
like this spring we are going on a trip! So they take me to Walgreens
and put me on a stool in front of a white screen. Then I go beserk and
make it impossible for anyone to take a decent picture of me. It just
wouldn't look good on the passport... They tried this a couple of
times. Then they would trick me and take dozens of pictures in front of
anything white they could find. After hundreds of shots, they managed
to get one they could edit and print to use on the passport
application. So I thought it would be cute, next time the photographer
comes to the school, if I posed like a perfect little model. I think
they came out pretty nice, no? Mom & Dad? They flipped.

Almost
Newyears and Anthony's still kicking! To be fair, we are taking real
good care of him. We feed him religiously, and change the water every
couple of weeks. It kind of looks like he's growing, no? Mommy and I
went to the pet store to see about getting him some company. It turns
out the tank we have, while cool, is pretty small. On top of that, the
tell us that these goldfish are not that friendly with others. So I
guess he's just going to be a bachelor.

My friend Amelia came over for a sleepover the other day. I did one at her house a few months back and this was her turn. We are trying to do as much as we can before school starts again. This year we will be at different schools, and I'll miss seeing her during the day.

I
went to Jordan's Birthday party a few days ago. This year, they got
smart and had it out of the house. They picked a martial arts studio! I
thought we were going to be doing some arts & crafts, but no!
This
studio is where you go if you want to learn how to practice judo,
karate, taekwondo or jujutsu. I don't know anything about
these
disciplines, but I can tell you I like the way they dress. They wear
these really cool kimonos, and the color of the belt they wear changes
as they get better. We got headbands. The instructor was very strict,
almost scary, like a mean boss. But she kept all of us in line and
managed to get through all the activities so all the kids had a chance
at everything. You know me, I'm a peace baby, so I wasn't
thrilled with the "combats". I'm sure the parents were happy
at how tired we were at the end.
The other day we went down to Miami to celebrate abuela Alicia's 90th birthday. We though is was going to be a small gathering with some food and games... It turns out a ton of people came, almost too many to fit in the house! But my favorite Jimenez were there: Erika Rose and Katrina. Rose is so full of energy that I was getting tired just looking at her. She was thrilled to be surrounded by so many people, and she made sure to be noticed with her antics. She's a lot smaller then me, but we got along really well. She's a great play pal. Katrina is cute as a button. She was a little shy at first, but soon she connected with Devon. You could almost guess at what they were "thinking" at each other, trying to negotiate all those long legs and big feet!

other day Mom and & joined Jordan and Tracy to go see Disney on
Ice! It was great! Last year we saw it when they were showing "The
Incredibles", and we got to see it from one of the V.I.P. suites,
courtesy of John, Steve's brother. This time we did it from the
bleachers. Really, when they turn down the lights, it's all good. This
time all the princesses were there, and the bad witches too!! But I
wasn't afraid, because they were too far away to get me. They even had
fireworks at the end... And I didn't freak out! Ultimately, it was
another excuse to put on my princess costume. It's only because I'm a
terrible eater that it still fit's me, but I have a feeling, at the
pace Devon is going, she's going to want to wear it soon.

is here. It's pool time, but not our pool, that's still too cold. The
community pool will do, there's almost nobody there...
Let's see, it's just like the bathtub, but bigger and cooler. I can do this! Wait! It's really deep!! Someone is going to have to hold me...Mom!
OK, I can't go where I want, but the water feels good. Erin is on her own, her hair is wet... How does that feel? Aaaaagh!! Water is coming in everywhere! My mouth, my nose, my ears!! It tastes yucky, but it doesn't hurt. It's fun! Let's do it again, only now with a splash: yeah!!!!! It's gonna be a fun summer...
